Cleaning Ministry
There is a blessing in cleaning the sanctuary of the Lord. In the Old Testament cleaning the temple was a priestly duty. It was the Levite tribe who were responsible for the transporting and cleaning all of the tabernacle items.
In Luke, you also see Zechariah who is in charge of the cleaning ministry and responsible for his division to carry out their duties in the temple. It was while Zechariah was carrying out his tasks that God send an angel to speak to him and announce a great blessing.
Cleaning may seem like a lowly task but it is of great importance to our Lord. Not everyone was allowed to touch or clean the sacred items in the sanctuary and prepare for service.
